What is fire safety inspection?
This is a process carried out by the fire department to ensure that a building is safe from fire outbreaks and has all the necessary safety equipment for fire hazards.
At the end of the inspections, all the risks and problems are written down by the inspector and issued to the organization. The inspector also known as an enforcement officer carefully examines the building thoroughly while recording the audit of the building’s fire preventive measures.
This process can be carried out in different ways depending on the state regulations, location of the building as well as other laws that play vital roles in house ownership.
Most times the inspectors ask some certain questions about the preventive measures of the building so far and check some documents such as the fire state policy.
While moving around the building, they take down notes as well as photos of the environment. Some of the necessary requirements a building must have when it comes to fire safety include; Fire detection systems, alarm systems, different types of fire extinguishers, varieties of fire hydrants, emergency signage and so on.
Fire inspections can be carried out anytime even though some are done yearly. If eventually your building doesn’t meet up to the standards required for fire safety, they have the right to issue you with an enforcement notice.

The Fire Safety NOC In India – How can you get one
The NOC( No Objection Certificate) is given to the occupants of a building by the Fire department. This certificate is issued after the fire department had examined and audited the building’s fire safety measures.
The preventive measures must meet up with the standards and requirements set by the Bureau of Indian Standards(BIU) and the state government as well.
After the examination, the NOC is given to the applicant if the building meets up with the necessary requirements. This certificate can be issued by the state’s fire department after the inspection is over.
If eventually you do not meet up with the specific equipment needed, you would be given a provisional NOC.
The provisional NOC is valid only for a short period of time, you need to ensure that you meet all the standards before it expires after which you notify the fire department for inspection.
If the building fully meets the requirements in compliance with the regulations, the final NOC certificate is given to you which expires after 1 year. If it expires, you need to renew by requesting for renewal from the fire service department.
